Thoughts I never want to forget
There are a few things that, when I think of them, I fear I might forget
them. I want to preserve these things in my memory and never forget....
- The man who gave me free pastries when I had no money. I already can't
remember his name, but I remember he was originally from Canada and
had a shop on the south side of the town square in Bloomfield. I think
it was a furniture store, and I vow to return someday.
- The couples in special tandems which accomodated one handicapped rider's
use of arms instead of legs. The first such couple I passed and talked
to was from San Diego. They were going up a steep hill, the woman
pedaling and the man, with a blatant muscular disorder, using a hand
crank. After seeing them, I could not in good conscience ever feel
tired or hardshipped by any hill.
- The man on the recumbant with the dog. The dog sat patiently on
a platform behind the man's seat. In the bright sun, the dog wore
sunglasses and sometimes sat under an umbrella.
- Lemonade on the way to Mo Valley
- The Barfly's paceline (led by the rucumbant from Des Moines)
- Jody & Chris
- Tigger, Pooh, and Winnie
- Grab your bikes
Grab your gear
Let's head for Mo Valley
And Drink some beer!
