We went hiking with Brad. This was a nice view with Boulder, CO on the right.
Here Skooch and Brent have been looking for Kristi, who was camouflaged as a rock.
That tiny speck on top is a person.
Dunno.
Estes Park valley floor.
Same floor from above.
This sign was entirely legible in the original picture. Good luck reading it in your web browser.
As we ascended over the high passes traversing the west side of Estes, it got really cold and the storm clouds were passing right overhead (sometimes under)
Ominous storm clouds above the arctic tundra.
That speck is a car inching along the road. Believe it or not, going up inclines at 12,000 feet, our vw vanagon was being held up by other vehicles. We had to keep moving or the van would get too cold to run!
We made it to a low enough elevation that we could stop for a bit. Inside the vanagon are Kristi and the big, red rubber ball we hauled all over tarnation.
Dinosaur National Monument. Ash and Skooch were not afraid.
Green River cutting through the interesting terrain surrounding Dinosaur National Monument. See the picnic tables? Looked like a nice place to stop if we hadn't been rushing to see the fossil center before it closed.
Satan's work. 500 miles from the trappings of urban life, a traffic light (red, of course) had been erected just for us. I think they were installing a permanent traffic light here. Some of you may remember seeing similar work of the devil in our 2002 Mexico album.
Some random place in Idaho.
Not sure if you can tell how abrupt the edge of the cliff is, but I wouldn't blink for too long while walking around here.
Off we went to see if anyone would fall in!
(All bets were on Ash.)
Upstream view.
Downstream view.
Dunno. Some insect's molted skin or something.
Succor Creek state natural area in Oregon. Turned out to be a long, long dirt road leading to a short section where a canyon was cut into the dry foothills.
Brent and Skooch are climbing around up there somewhere.
